FAQ
Questions
What does each app do?
Pocket Nerd is a quick spending scratchpad. LedgerKeep keeps double-entry books. Clip Dr. edits and repairs audio. Rabbit Trail collects research and connects evidence. Choirboy is a media player with personal filtering, currently seeking beta testers.
Which app is next?
Clip Dr. follows LedgerKeep in the catalog; Rabbit Trail follows Clip Dr. Each product page shows its own availability. Choirboy beta access is requested separately.
What do they cost?
Pocket Nerd: $3.99 gets you unlimited entries. The first 25 are free. LedgerKeep: $39.99 for desktop, $5.99 for Android. Pay once. LedgerKeep has a 14-day evaluation. Rabbit Trail and Clip Dr. pricing and trial terms will be published before their sales open.
What does a one-time purchase cover?
For Pocket Nerd and LedgerKeep, a license covers the purchased major version, with point releases included. Pocket Nerd is licensed per phone. LedgerKeep desktop covers up to three of your own devices; Android is a separate purchase. A future paid major upgrade does not expire your existing version.
Can I buy an app today?
Check its product page. A Coming soon button means sales have not opened. An available app has a working purchase link. Beta access to Choirboy is requested by email.
What is the difference between Pocket Nerd and LedgerKeep?
Pocket Nerd is for the spending decision in front of you. LedgerKeep is the full record: accounts, bills, budgets, reconciliation and history. Pocket Nerd can send entries to LedgerKeep to be reviewed and filed.
Are the games financial advice?
No. They are games. The odds react to your price and thresholds, but you make the decision. Neither Pocket Nerd nor LedgerKeep can make a payment or move money.
What happens to my data?
The money apps keep records locally and offer optional device sync. Rabbit Trail keeps a local research archive; Clip Dr. processes recordings on your computer. Choirboy processes local media on your device, with optional online and media-server features. Support messages and beta requests are sent only when you choose to contact me. See each product page and the privacy summary for details.
Which platforms?
Pocket Nerd: Android; iOS is planned. LedgerKeep: Android, Linux, Windows and macOS. Rabbit Trail: Android, Linux and Windows, with Apple builds still being prepared. Clip Dr.: Linux and Windows; macOS availability will be confirmed at launch. Choirboy beta builds are arranged individually for your device.
How do I join the Choirboy beta?
Open the Choirboy page, choose your platform and send the beta request form. It saves your request in Niche-Knack support and sends an email confirmation. You can reply by email, or create an optional account, verify your email and follow the request in your support dashboard. I will reply with build availability and access instructions.
Can I get a refund?
Direct purchases from this site have a 30-day money-back guarantee. Contact support with your order number. Purchases through an app store follow that store’s refund process.
Who is behind this?
One engineer in Ohio. I write the software and answer the mail. A narrow purpose deserves care in how the app feels to use as well as how it works.
