RiffWright privacy

Updated October 22, 2026. RiffWright is provided by Niche-Knack Apps LLC, Ohio, United States.

Your music stays on your device

Songs, imported audio, microphone recordings, custom instruments, and working sound drafts are stored on your device. Audio editing, analysis, and source separation run there. RiffWright does not automatically upload these materials to Niche-Knack. Exports and shares send the files you choose to the destination you select.

The microphone is used when you choose to record or measure audio timing. The timing measurement recording is neither saved nor sent. You can remove microphone permission in your device settings; that prevents new microphone recording but does not erase existing takes.

Local work remains until you delete it or clear the app’s data. Uninstalling may remove it. Export anything you want to keep before uninstalling. RiffWright disables Android cloud backup and automatic device-to-device transfer of its app data. On other platforms, your operating system’s backup settings may apply. The destination you choose controls copies you share.

Accounts, purchases, and sound packs

Account sign-in sends your email address and password to Niche-Knack’s account service over HTTPS. The app does not retain your password. Android protects a saved account session with Android Keystore; iPhone and iPad use Keychain. Desktop account sessions last for the current app process.

Activating or restoring paid access sends your account identifier, an installation identifier, device name and platform, and relevant purchase evidence to the account service. Purchase evidence can include product and transaction identifiers, purchase history, a store receipt or signed transaction, or a direct-purchase license. These records let the service verify access, prevent duplicate or fraudulent grants, and make purchased packs available to download.

Direct purchases use Lemon Squeezy. Google Play and Apple store builds use their respective in-app purchase systems. The payment provider handles payment details under its own terms. RiffWright does not store your payment-card information. Opening checkout or contacting a store or the account service also exposes ordinary connection information, including your IP address, to that service.

The app keeps signed access and downloaded sounds locally so licensed work can continue offline. Restoration and new downloads may require a connection. Removing a pack or signing out does not remove sound definitions already saved in your songs or personal copies.

Optional beta diagnostics

Development and production Android builds keep diagnostic, crash, and application-not-responding logs locally. You can export or clear these in Settings. They are not uploaded automatically; review a log before choosing to share it with support.

Beta builds collect and send diagnostic reports only after you agree on first opening. Reports contain a random installation identifier, coarse hardware information, and bounded performance, failure, crash, and session counts. They exclude recordings, song contents, file names, media titles, names, and email addresses. Reports are deidentified, not anonymous: the service can associate the installation with its approved beta enrollment. Beta builds do not create raw log files.

Use Settings → Access → Stop diagnostic sharing to withdraw. This stops collection, clears unsent reports on the device, and requests revocation when connected. It does not erase reports already accepted by the service. Raw diagnostic reports have a 30-day retention period. Access to editing in beta requires the agreement and valid beta access; existing work remains available to view and export if access ends.

Support and deletion requests

If you contact support, Niche-Knack receives your message, reply address, and any attachments you choose to send. Review attachments before sending them. The support privacy terms describe how support requests are handled.

To request deletion of your shared Niche-Knack support account and associated personal information, use the dedicated account deletion form. Sign in with that account and confirm; no explanation or support conversation is required. Niche-Knack support completes verified requests within 7 days and confirms by email, or explains a specific legal or transaction-related retention requirement. Deleting this shared account affects account-based access across Niche-Knack apps, not just RiffWright. It does not remotely erase your local projects, refund purchases, or cancel a store subscription.

Deletion removes the account and associated sessions, access links, beta identity, and account-linked support data. Merchant purchase ledgers and security audit records required for legal obligations, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution may be retained and are not necessarily anonymous. Account deletion does not retrieve copies of music you shared or erase local songs, recordings, or personal sounds on your devices.

For information held by a payment provider or a destination you shared with, contact that provider separately. For questions about this policy, use the same support address.
