Understand fingerprints, transcripts and Cloud access

Know what is saved, what is shared and when a subscription is needed.

Before you start: Choirboy for local work. A network connection for publishing or downloading; an active Cloud or Complete subscription for other contributors’ fingerprints.

Step by step

  1. Keep the recording and filter separate

A fingerprint stores timed filtering information. Editing it changes the filtering decisions, not your original media. A transcript is the associated text and timing, including saved corrections where available.

  2. Choose whether to publish

Local work can stay on your device. Publishing shares the fingerprint and can include its timed transcript. Auto-publish is one consent for both. Your private personal word list is not shared as a community censor list.

  3. Distinguish your work from community work

Anyone can submit a fingerprint. Anonymous submissions enter validation before discovery. You can access your own contributions without Cloud; downloading, rating or suggesting revisions to someone else’s contribution requires Cloud or Complete.

  4. Let the app check a downloaded match

An eligible complete fingerprint can be reused after recording and timing checks. Its paired transcript can be retrieved in the authorized app flow. Unavailable, incomplete or incompatible results fall back to available text and scanning.

  5. Manage your contributions

Sign in on the Choirboy website. My fingerprints lists your contributions; Open editor provides the paired transcript controls for an editable contribution. Select a segment, apply the text correction, save it and reopen the saved version to check the result. My transcripts lists your transcript records. Ordinary account access does not grant unrestricted standalone transcript downloads.
