Save and install the Lamplighter web app

Use the reader in your browser or install it as an app, then save the editions you want offline.

Before you start: A current browser and an internet connection for the initial save. Use the separate iPhone guide for Safari Home Screen installation.

Get Lamplighter

Step by step

  1. Open the browser app.

    Choose Open browser app on the download page to open the public HTTPS reader at nk.tools. You can start reading immediately. Use a regular browser window so the library can remain on this device.

  2. Save editions and choose your unlock.

    Choose Keep on this device to open the Save on this device setup. Select editions, an app name and picture, and an optional game appearance. Set your unlock, choose Save app & editions, and wait for the encrypted library to finish saving. The Save on this device control in Settings opens the same setup.

  3. Install an app icon if your browser offers it.

    Use the app’s install button when available, or your browser’s install-app command. Chrome and Edge can offer an install icon in the address bar. If your browser has no install command, you can keep using the saved reader in that browser.

  4. Finish setup inside the installed app.

    Open its new icon while connected, use your original unlock, and finish saving if prompted. The installed app may have separate storage from the browser tab.

  5. Check offline use.

    Disconnect from the internet, close the app or tab, and reopen it. Unlock and open chapters from each saved edition. Keep an exported backup before clearing browser data or moving to a different browser.

What encryption covers

After you finish the Save on this device setup with protection, the selected library and personal study data are encrypted in this copy’s protected storage. The browser app and its resource URLs remain public and may contain readable bundled Bibles. Saving a protected library does not make those public resources private.

Encryption and a game appearance cannot guarantee safety or privacy. Exports, backups, browser history, and operating-system records can have different protections. Read Lamplighter’s privacy policy.
