Install Lamplighter on iPhone

Save the browser app, add its Home Screen icon in Safari, and test offline reading on your iPhone.

Before you start: For this website route, use Safari and an internet connection. A protected Android sender with Lamplighter 1.11.95 or later also offers a fully local route using three QR codes and a temporary certificate checked in iPhone Settings; see Install on iPhone from an Android phone, offline in the Lamplighter how-tos. That route needs no online certificate preparation, but its full first save on an actual iPhone has not yet been verified for this release. Use a regular browsing tab.

Get Lamplighter

Step by step

  1. Open the browser reader in Safari.

    Use Open browser app on the Lamplighter download page to open the public HTTPS reader at nk.tools. If you opened the link inside an email or messaging app, open it in Safari before continuing.

  2. Save your library on this device.

    Tap Keep on this device to open the Save on this device setup. Choose a name, picture, optional game appearance, and the editions you want. Set your password or a sequence of 4–12 distinct board places, then choose Save app & editions. Keep the connection open until the editions are saved. The Save on this device control in Settings opens the same setup.

  3. Add the Home Screen icon.

    In Safari, open More (•••), then Share, or tap Share directly if your layout shows it. Choose Add to Home Screen. Check the name, leave Open as Web App on if shown, and tap Add.

  4. Open the new icon while still online.

    Return to the Home Screen and open your new icon. Use the same password or board sequence. Safari and the Home Screen app can have separate storage; if prompted, let the selected editions finish saving inside this copy. Transfer existing browser notes through an encrypted backup.

  5. Try the offline check.

    After saving finishes, turn on Airplane Mode and turn Wi-Fi off. Close and reopen the Home Screen app, unlock it, and read several chapters from each saved edition. Reconnect if an edition still needs saving. Send us the steps and result from your iPhone.

What encryption covers

After you finish the Save on this device setup with protection, the selected library and personal study data are encrypted in this copy’s protected storage. The browser app and its resource URLs remain public and may contain readable bundled Bibles. Saving a protected library does not make those public resources private.

Encryption and a game appearance cannot guarantee safety or privacy. Exports, backups, browser history, and operating-system records can have different protections. Read Lamplighter’s privacy policy.
