Updated Android and browser reader
Create a study and start a broadcast
Choose passages, arrange your study, save it, then lead other readers through it.
Before you start: Unlock the current Android or browser reader. Studies live in the sidebar. To lead or follow from a protected Android copy, choose Show app before connecting. This restores Lamplighter’s normal name and icon; its stored protected content remains encrypted. Older desktop downloads may have different controls. Participants need compatible copies and a supported local connection.
Step by step
-
Create a study from the sidebar.
Open the sidebar, choose Studies, then Create. Enter a Study title. The three choices here are Create, Follow, and Import; Follow joins someone else’s study.
-
Add and edit passages.
Use Add passage to type a reference or choose its book, chapter, and verses with the same suggestions, tiles, and dropdowns as the main reader. Add only the passages you want. Each listed passage has Edit to change its reference and a remove control.
-
Arrange passages and add study material.
Hold and drag a passage’s dotted handle to reorder it, or tap the handle for move controls. Use its highlight, note, or attachment icon to add material to the study. Passage notes belong to this study; Journal is your separate searchable writing.
-
Save and return to Studies.
Choose Save study. Use ‹ Studies at the top to return to the list. Tap a saved study’s title to edit it. Its actions are Lead, Export, and Delete. Export offers an encrypted file or an unencrypted JSON copy. Use the file-sharing guide below to understand who can open each.
-
Lead the saved study.
Choose Lead on that study, check the study and the name participants will see, and select an offered connection. Choose Start broadcast when ready. Keep Lamplighter open. For an iPhone or browser participant, use Invite an iPhone or browser on the same Wi-Fi or hotspot and compare the connection codes.
-
Follow from another device.
The other reader opens Studies → Follow. Scan or paste the leader’s invitation and complete the matching-code confirmation. Browser readers use Connect to a leader and exchange the invitation and reply. A follower can pause and resume without changing the leader’s saved study.
-
End the session.
Choose End the session when leading, or Leave the session when following. Participants can keep material already received; ending the session does not erase their copies.
