Android sender → iPhone

Install on iPhone from an Android phone, offline

Use three QR codes to join local Wi-Fi, check a temporary certificate, and receive the app and library through HTTPS.

Before you start: A protected Android sender with Lamplighter 1.11.95 or later on Android 8 or later, plus Safari and permission to install a certificate profile on the iPhone. Keep both devices charged and nearby. The complete first save on an actual iPhone has not yet been verified for 1.11.95. This local route needs no internet connection, public website, online certificate preparation, or DNS lookup. Apple Lockdown Mode blocks new profiles, so this route is unavailable while it is enabled.

Step by step

  1. Prepare the selected library on Android.

Unlock the protected reader and open Settings → Pass it on → Pass on to iPhone. All installed Bibles and study resources start selected; choose fewer only if the iPhone needs a smaller copy. Choose its app name and icon, then Prepare iPhone installation. Keep this screen open and the Android display awake and unlocked until the iPhone reports Available offline. The temporary connection lasts up to 15 minutes; hiding the reader or stopping sharing ends it.

  2. Scan 1: join the temporary Wi-Fi.

Scan the Wi-Fi code with the iPhone camera and join the network. It has no internet access. On Android, choose The iPhone is connected to continue to Approve the local connection.

  3. Scan 2: download the public certificate.

Scan the setup code on the iPhone and open the local guide in Safari. Choose Get connection certificate and allow the download. This HTTP page sends only a public guide and certificate, not the app or library. Keep the Android screen available for the independent fingerprint check.

  4. Check exactly one certificate before installing.

On iPhone, open Settings → Profile Downloaded → More Details. It must contain exactly one Certificate and no other payload or settings. Stop if you see extra certificates, device management, network configuration, or anything else. Open that Certificate and scroll to Fingerprints → SHA-256. Compare all 32 bytes with the full fingerprint shown on Android in lowercase pairs separated by spaces. A matching connection name or fingerprint printed in the downloaded guide is not enough. Stop if the actual certificate fingerprint is missing or different.

  5. Install and approve that certificate.

Only after those checks, return to the profile and choose Install, entering the iPhone passcode if asked. Open Settings → General → About → Certificate Trust Settings and enable full trust for that exact temporary connection. This trust applies across the device, not only to Lamplighter. Do not approve unrelated certificates or bypass a Safari certificate warning.

  6. Set the proxy for this Wi-Fi network only.

On iPhone, open Settings → Wi-Fi → this temporary network → Configure Proxy → Manual. Enter the Server and Port shown on Android, leave Authentication off, and save. This is a setting for that Wi-Fi network, not a global proxy or device-management enrollment. On Android, check the confirmation that you inspected the one certificate and its full fingerprint, then choose Show installation code.

  7. Scan 3: receive through the encrypted connection.

Scan the installation code and open it in Safari. Tap Receive from Android. Compare the transfer code on both phones, then choose Codes match — send on Android only if they match. The app and selected library travel through HTTPS after this approval. Keep both apps open.

  8. Save inside the Home Screen app.

In Safari, choose the name, icon, and unlock method and prepare the Home Screen app. Use Share → Add to Home Screen and tap Add. Open the new icon while the sender is still available and use the original password or board sequence. Safari and the Home Screen app have separate storage: wait for Available offline inside the Home Screen app and check that its library opens. Its saved library is encrypted with its own protection.

  9. Remove this setup and check a cold offline launch.

In Settings → General → VPN & Device Management, remove only this temporary connection profile. Confirm its certificate is no longer listed in Certificate Trust Settings. Forget the temporary Wi-Fi network to remove its proxy setting, turn iPhone Wi-Fi off, and stop sharing on Android. Close and reopen the Home Screen app, unlock it, and read a saved chapter before leaving the sender.
